Suspense of belief is impossible with bollywood! And yet it's absolutely critical for the bollywood viewer, because every bollywood movie is a fucking sci-fi love action warrior-ish story! With Hollywood it's really easy to suspend belief and live inside the movie no matter what's happening on screen, despite the flaws you may notice. And there's always a guy doing it for a girl, there's always a boring love story, ugh! Indian movies had more problems beyond translation, the premise is usually absurd, the whole fucking story is unacceptable! And they share something with Arabic TV, it's the same story over and over. I see people praise this European film or that movie, but I can't enjoy because I have no idea what the actor is saying, and I despise subtitles and voice overs. Even if it was a perfect translation voice over in either Arabic or English it would be ridiculous. I didn't like that I had to read subtitles, voice over in Arabic was ridiculous. Poor recording since I can remember (that should have changed by now?), everything - low quality. I never liked Indian movies, stupid idiotic movies. I believe bollywood is long dead between us, thank allah man. Today, I don't know anyone who watches these movie nor do I know anyone who might know anyone who does. I remember people watching bollywood movies on VHS tapes in the 90s and very early 2000s. SO yea, I would say there is a lot of interest! Its been on since June and still going strong, taking up the busiest time slots. Oh! I just remembered, there is a Bollywood movie being played right now in the movie theaters. You should see how much of a mess I was after I watched Devdas! Me, personally? I like the emotional roller-coaster ride Bollywood movies offer just the perfect thing to watch when I am PMSing and in need of a tear jerker. This means there is very little need to censor the movies that are aired even old Egyptian movies from the 50s had kissing, which is a big no-no in Kuwait. Of course there are some exceptions to this rule.) Nor do they show much sex before marriage.
Most Bollywood movies rarely show any kissing (they neck instead, or rub against each other like a Lesbian soft core porno. Even our colloquial speech has a lot of Indian words (chub, bacha, pagel, etc.) Farsi also helped in that, bridging the two languages quite well.Ī lot of Indian movies are 'morally decent' for a lot of Muslim-inclined cultures. India has always been a major trading port for Kuwaitis, so much so that a lot of families speak various types of Hindi. Especially during the 70s and 80s, having an Indian 'nanny' was common so a lot of children grew up watching the same shows as their nannies did.) Kuwait has a lot of Indian expats (both in high positions in companies and as laborers.
